DAI Studio

Namespaces

The six required namespace prefixes every .dai file declares: bpmn, bpmndi, dc, di, dai, xsi.

Every .dai file declares six namespaces on the root bpmn:definitions element:

PrefixURIPurpose
bpmn:http://www.omg.org/spec/BPMN/20100524/MODELBPMN 2.0 model — process, task, subProcess, events, gateways, sequence flows
bpmndi:http://www.omg.org/spec/BPMN/20100524/DIBPMN diagram interchange — shapes, edges, labels
dc:http://www.omg.org/spec/DD/20100524/DCDiagram common — the dc:Bounds layout rectangles
di:http://www.omg.org/spec/DD/20100524/DIDiagram interchange — label styling

The dai: namespace

The dai: namespace carries everything DAI Studio adds on top of standard BPMN. It appears in two places:

Extension attributes — applied directly on BPMN elements using the dai: prefix. Every typed element carries dai:type; every DAI attribute is prefixed, and unprefixed attributes are not part of the format:

<bpmn:task id="Task_1" name="Cite sources" dai:type="dai.types.ai.rule" dai:stepType="rule"
  dai:scope="global" dai:rulePriority="critical" dai:enforcement="hard"
  dai:notes="Every factual claim must be supported by a cited source URL." />

Extension elements — child elements inside bpmn:extensionElements:

<bpmn:extensionElements>
  <dai:workflowMeta description="…" defaultModel="gpt-4o" version="1.0" />
</bpmn:extensionElements>

The dai: extension elements are:

Schema

The dai: vocabulary is declared in a machine-readable XSD served at the namespace URI — https://dai.studio/schema/dai/1.0 — so XML validators and IDEs can locate it automatically. The XSD collects the extension attributes into named attribute groups per BPMN element type and declares every dai: extension element. The per-type vocabulary itself — which keys each type has and where each is stored — is published by the type catalog at https://dai.studio/api/catalog; the XSD only constrains the shared structure (for example, the dai.types.<category>.<leaf> pattern of dai:type).
