DAI Studio

Accounts & Documents

How signing in, usernames, the document dashboard, limits and purchases, uploads, renaming, and deletion work in DAI Studio.

Signing in

DAI Studio has no passwords. You sign in with one of three identity providers:

  • Microsoft
  • GitHub
  • Google

Sessions are kept in a secure cookie; when a session expires, saving stops and the status bar shows Save failed — check connection. Sign in again and reopen the document — everything up to the last successful save is intact in your account.

Your username

The username you choose at sign-up (or via Set Username later) is how DAI Studio addresses you in URLs:

  • Your documents live at dai.studio/your-name/document-name
  • Your public profile — the list of documents you’ve made public — lives at dai.studio/your-name

Usernames are 3–20 characters, lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens only, cannot start or end with a hyphen, and a small set of reserved words is blocked. Availability is checked live while you type. Changing your username changes your document URLs to match.

Until you pick a username, your URLs use your numeric account ID — DAI Studio redirects those to your username URLs once you have one.

The dashboard

Signing in lands you on the dashboard:

SectionWhat it shows
RecentYour three most recently edited documents, as cards, plus New Document (with how many you have left) and Add 10 Documents for $10
My FilesAll documents you own, sortable A→Z or by recently modified, with delete buttons
Shared with meDocuments shared with you; the section appears only when there are some
ToolbarThe document counter (used/limit docs — click it to buy more), Upload .dai, New Document, and the avatar menu (Set Username, Log out)

Creating documents

New Document creates a fresh “Untitled Workflow” in your account and opens it in the editor. Every edit in the editor saves automatically — there is no save button.

Creating a document counts against your account’s document limit, shown in the dashboard toolbar. New Document and Upload .dai are blocked once you reach the limit; forking someone else’s public document into your account is not, though the fork counts toward your total. The counter updates as you create and delete documents.

Limits and purchases

DAI Studio has no subscriptions — everything is a one-time purchase through Stripe checkout, and it stays on your account.

PurchasePriceWhat you getWhere to buy
Document Pack$1010 more documents on top of the 3 every account starts withDashboard: Add 10 Documents for $10, Get 10 docs — $10, or the document counter
Cloud Types$10The Cloud view of the Types overlay — Generic, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Cloudflare servicesEditor: Types → Cloud → Unlock
Open Source Types$10The Open Source view — hundreds of open-source projects, from Debian to PostgreSQL to KubernetesEditor: Types → Open Source → Unlock

At the document limit the counter turns red with Get more →, and trying to create a document shows Document limit reached. Purchase a Document Pack to create more. After buying a type add-on you return to the same document with the new view open. Documents that already contain cloud or open-source elements open and edit normally without the add-on; it only gates adding new ones. See Cloud & Open Source Types.

Uploading a .dai file

Already have a .dai file (created with an LLM, an agent, or exported earlier)? Use Upload .dai on the dashboard to import it as a new document in your account. Uploads must be 500 KB or smaller and be a valid .dai (BPMN 2.0) file; the document takes its name from the file and starts out private. Inside the editor, Document → Export → Download .dai saves the current file as <document-name>.dai any time.

To bring part of a diagram — or a model’s output — into an existing document instead, copy the XML and paste it onto the canvas with ⌘V.

Renaming

Click the document name in the editor status bar (bottom-left), or use Document → Manage → Rename…. The name is the document ID — lowercase letters, digits, hyphens, and underscores — so renaming changes the document’s URL — dai.studio/you/new-name — and any old links, including public ones, stop working. Spread the new URL after renaming. If you pick the name of a document you already have, the dialog offers Overwrite and rename, which replaces that other document.

Deleting

Delete a document from the dashboard (delete button on the card) or the editor (Document → Manage → Delete document…). Either way you’re asked to confirm. Deletion is permanent, and every URL to that document — editor, public page, and raw file — stops working immediately.
